Aside from a nice bright blue that helps these billboards stand out, the campaign isn't that creatively remarkable, but what interesting is that we're at dawn of a new age where financial brands are advertising electronic payment using a smartphone device rather than a traditional physical credit card.

Citigroup may have recently failed The Federal Reserve stress test, but Citi MasterCard debuted their giant-sized billboard on the side of the 9000 building along Sunset Boulevard in December 2011.

They followed this ad with further super-sized billboards in additional locations along L.A.'s Sunset Strip and along Melrose Avenue in February and March 2012.

Daily Billboard also spied this standard landscape 'contacts list' creative along Highland Avenue at Franklin Avenue on March 7, 2012, where it's been for a while now.

Daily Billboard thinks that Mercury Insurance's current ad campaign is simple and effective.

The billboards stand out not only because of the bright egg yolk colour, but also due to the use of some clever copy.

Daily Billboard especially likes the sentiment of the 'Get a great agent. Not a great telemarketer' creative, but wonders in this age of overseas call centers and scripted, standard answers, if the service actually lives up to the promise.

Regardless, the ads do a great job of the communicating the savings you'll apparently enjoy if you opt for Mercury Insurance Group.

These insurance billboards were snapped along 3rd Street, Wilshire Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard in L.A. on January 12 through January 16, 2012.

The bank has chosen a fun and timely way to communicate its account alerts features and it's nice to see a corporate bank embracing the holiday spirit.

The California motor license plates help give a local flavour for the American bank, which you assume they adapt for the different states they operate within.

The copy abbreviations fit with license plate theme, but also have a youthful nature to them in this text and tweeting savvy world.

You can see this campaign all around the streets of L.A., but the giant billboard creative was photographed on the side of the 9000 building along Sunset Boulevard, whilst smaller versions were snapped along La Tejira Boulevard in L.A. on April 14, and along La Cienega Boulevard on April 24, 2011.
