DUO DAY: Gap Be Your Own T and Be One gay billboards...

Be Your Own T Gap special installation billboard
Today we have two very special Gap billboards for two very different reasons.
Gap Be Your Own T billboard
Daily Billboard loves a special installation and so adores this 'Be Your Own T' creative (even if we're not quite sure what the tagline means). Seeing that 'T' made up of all those different coloured Gap t-shirts fluttering in the breeze is a real attention-grabber.
Gap Be One gay billboard
Speaking of eye-catching, it's nice to see Gap supporting equality with this 'Be One' creative featuring a young gay male couple sharing the same t-shirt.

These welcome additions to Gap's current Be Bright ad campaign are sure to get people talking and rightly so.
Gap Be One billboard
Daily Billboard is sure that this same-sex ad will get certain hate groups knickers in a twist, but honestly how can you be offended by this sweet and unsensational ad.

The special Gap t-shirt installation billboard was snapped along Sunset Boulevard at the top of La Cienega Boulevard on May 5, 2012, whilst the 'Be One' ad was captured opposite the Hollywood & Highland Center along Highland Avenue on the same day.

Now isn't that a great way to start another week here at Daily Billboard? Thank you Gap.

GCB series premiere TV billboards...

GCB Kristin Chenoweth billboard
Daily Billboard has to admit that when we first spied this billboard we thought it looked more like an ad for a strip club, rather than for a new ABC comedy drama (maybe it was the hot bubble gum pink or Kristin Chenoweth's bare legs that gave that impression).
GCB billboard ad
In fact it's actually the series premiere billboard for GCB, based on the book Good Christian Bitches by Kim Gatlin.

Daily Billboard loves the bedazzled show logo which really catches your eye, gleaming in gold and silver. It also has a nice glittery movement to it that helps with the effect.
GCB glittery logo billboard
It's especially clever how they've included the white sparkles on the artwork in case the sun isn't catching the shiny logo enough.
GCB TV billboard
In addition to the enhanced version, there's also a regular unadorned logo creative, which still stands out with that vibrant background colour.
GCB season 1 TV billboard
After her marriage ends in scandal a former high school 'mean girl' is forced to return to Dallas to face her mother and the women of her past.

They say payback is a bitch and it looks like these Good Christian Bitches (or Belles) are ready to give as good as they got, including Kristin Chenoweth's character who was bullied by her when she was younger and still holds a grudge.
GCB Love Thy Neighbor billboard
These eye-catching TV billboards were snapped along Beverly Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue on February 8, 2012.

UPDATED: Kristin Chenoweth also appears standing up in this portrait creative, which is also the format for bus shelter ads for the new show.

This saintly billboard was snapped along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City on March 7, 2012.

TRIO DAY: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax movie billboards..

The Lorax movie billboard installation
There are just some movies and characters which lend themselves to great billboard advertising.
Dr Seuss' The Lorax movie billboard
Of course it helps if what you're trying to market is a visually exciting creation like The Lorax.
The Lorax movie 3D billboard
These eye-catching, zesty orange billboards for the animated movie, based on the 1971 environmentally-themed children's book written by Dr. Seuss, really stand out against that gorgeous blue California sky.
The Lorax movie billboard
The humorous special extension billboard with its yellow bushy eyebrows and moustache literally beams down at passersby and is impossible to miss.
The Lorax 3D installation billboard
The extra-special 3D version is simply magnificent with its raised features and is Daily Billboard's favourite billboard of the year so far (granted we're still in January), and easily a worthy contender for the BAB Award for Best Billboard Installation.
The Lorax movie billboard
Here's another standard billboard for the movie snapped on November 30, 2011 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Dr Seuss' The Lorax billboard
The standard face creative was snapped along Sunset Boulevard at Cahuenga Boulevard on January 3, 2012.
The Lorax movie billboard Sunset Plaza
The Lorax's cheery 3D face (which must have cost a small fortune to produce) can be seen driving along Sunset Plaza at the top of La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood and was captured on January 4, 2012.

What a great standard of creativity to set for the start of 2012, let's hope there's more like this to follow.
The Lorax giant movie billboards Hollywood
UPDATED: As the movie's release date draws ever closer more billboards for The Lorax are popping up around L.A., including these two giant ads snapped along Highland Avenue on February 6, 2012, which you can see from as far away as Runyon Canyon with their vivid colours.

Here's also a fun movie theatre standee for The Lorax photographed at The Grove's cinema.

BONUS DAY: Arthur Christmas movie billboards...

Arthur Christmas Toys for Tots bilboard
November has certainly seen a huge Arthur Christmas billboard blitz around the streets of L.A. and in New York, but they've actually gone one step further along Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood and they have a living human billboard installation.
Arthur Christmas live billboard installation
How fun is this interactive PR stunt? Not only do they have an actual 'Arthur' lookalike answering phone calls and waving to passersby up on the billboard platform, but they also have Santa's elves wishing everyone a Merry Christmas at street level.

This fantastic installation looks like it's all for a good cause too, not only is it promoting the new festive film, but it appears to be encouraging gift donations for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, which collects Christmas presents to give less fortunate children in America over the holidays.
Arthur Christmas charity installation billboard
They've even gone the extra mile and gift-wrapped the billboard pole which is a nice touch. These photos were snapped near the start of the campaign on November 15, and let's hope that 'presents donated' count reaches a blockbuster total by the time the film opens in cinemas.

Aside from this live-action billboard, there's also a wealth of other eye-catching Arthur Christmas billboards to be seen at the moment.
Arthur Christmas movie billboard
It's always a little strange to see Christmas themed billboards so early in sunny Los Angeles, the festive creatives always a little out of place against blues skies and blazing sunshine.
Arthur Christmas billboards NYC
However, these are such fun and colourful billboards that you can forgive their early start to the holidays.

Meanwhile, this special trio of billboards for the movie was snapped near New York's Times Square on November 5.

The computer-animated movie from Aardman Animations (the stop-motion clay animation geniuses behind the likes of Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run) follows the adventures of Santa's son 'Arthur' in the North Pole as he embarks on an important mission before Christmas morning.

As a nice touch, the billboard with all the special extension acrobatic elves even has Christmas tree lights around its border and was snapped along Fairfax Avenue at 6th Street on October 29.

The large format '2 Billion presents' billboard was captured along Highland Avenue in Hollywood on November 14, whilst the other creative with the elves swinging on cables was photographed along Sunset Boulevard on November 2, 2011 (which was replaced by the live charity installation).

UPDATED: Here's another special extension ad for Arthur Christmas spied along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City on December 5, 2011. They certainly spent a lot of money on eye-catching billboards for this seasonal movie.

The Vampire Diaries gory season three TV billboard...

Vampire Diaries gory season 3 bilboard
The Vampire Diaries brought the raunch and sexual innuendos for its second season billboards and for its third season it looks like it's bringing the gore, with this fantastic new billboard along L.A.'s Sunset Strip.

Nina Dobrev holding a dripping pomegranate resembling a beating heart and the blood oozing down from atop the Whisky A Go-Go club really does make for a dramatic and arresting visual.
Vampire Diaries V3 billboard
This cool V3 ad creative was photographed on October 22, 2011, where it was installed the day before just in time for the Halloween season.

If you're a fan of the show, be sure to check out the season two billboard for The Vampire Diaries and the mid-season Catch VD ad campaign.

Footloose neon sign movie billboard by night and day...

Footloose neon sign billboard
Even though Footloose is getting a 2011 makeover, it's nice to see that it retains an 80's vibe with the film title presented as a nostalgic neon sign.
Footloose logo billboard
Rather than just a photograph, this version of the Footloose logo billboard has actual neon lighting to help it stand out by day and especially at night. It's quite subtle, but it's still a great idea.

This cool creative was snapped along Sunset Boulevard on September 28, 2011.

If you like this, be sure to also check out the teaser Footloose billboards and original costumes worn by Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough in Footloose on display.
